ZEMOS98 is a team of cultural workers.
We try to create critical thinking, we try to deconstruct the mass-media messages, we try to weave networks, relationships and
communities. We try to work in the intersections and margins. We try to work (g)locally, behind the borders. We try to take care of our networks and we try to reuse and remix all of our contents. We try to organize a Festival every year and we try to create a New Media Laboratory called 98LAB to learn about this things.
So, basically, we try things.
Reset is a format, a lecture which tries to open different kind of possibilities, ideas or opinions about a particular issue. Reset is an exchange; a speech about a specific topic that take place once a month in the Centre of Arts of Seville. It tries to open dialogue between proffesionals, and everyone interested in taking part in the cultural movement of the city. Its 8th edition will be devoted to free culture. We will work on that concept to refute some notions generally related to this movement and where we will show some examples currently working. We will talk about copyright and how its paperwork determines the development and the progress of knowledge.
ZEMOS98 will take part in this speech with the presentation of the book La tragedia del copyright (The Tragedy of Copyright). This publication draws a conceptual map about topics where copyright is moved, not just about cultural content, but about agriculture or science too. Copyright laws are in constant tension with open knowledge, public domain and cooperation models non based on competition.
It will take place on November 20th in Centre of Arts of Seville, from 19:30 to 21h. There will a streaming of this activity, and you can join us in the social networks through the hashtag #reset08. The speech will be in Spanish.
