ZEMOS98 is a team of cultural workers.
We try to create critical thinking, we try to deconstruct the mass-media messages, we try to weave networks, relationships and
communities. We try to work in the intersections and margins. We try to work (g)locally, behind the borders. We try to take care of our networks and we try to reuse and remix all of our contents. We try to organize a Festival every year and we try to create a New Media Laboratory called 98LAB to learn about this things.
So, basically, we try things.
Nowadays anyone can be a filmmaker: affordable materials and the internet as a distributor allow us all to tell our stories and share them with others. In this way, we can see the visions of ‘normal’ young Europeans from all corners of the continent. Voices that perhaps wouldn’t have been heard through the traditional distribution channels.
A selection of nine Doc Next films will be screened at Eutopia. The films will present these young people’s visions of life in Europe, which they want to share with a wide audience. Their independent, self-produced films tell small stories that have a big effect – from local heroes to critical video remixes about media and politics. The screening will take place at Filmoteca de Córdoba, the 8th of December at 19:00.
One of the highlights of the event is the coexistence and interconnection of different artistic disciplines, through experiences ranging from the training field to the creation in situ. In its sixth year, takes on new challenges and Eutopia enters a concept such as the creative intelligence and their application to art, to the business or the configuration of cities.
