ZEMOS98 is a team of cultural workers.
We try to create critical thinking, we try to deconstruct the mass-media messages, we try to weave networks, relationships and
communities. We try to work in the intersections and margins. We try to work (g)locally, behind the borders. We try to take care of our networks and we try to reuse and remix all of our contents. We try to organize a Festival every year and we try to create a New Media Laboratory called 98LAB to learn about this things.
So, basically, we try things.
It’s time to present the works produced by the participants in the 98lab workshop. These eleven videos are produced by the individual and collective work in a different education space, comprehended as an action and participation laboratory.
98lab is produced by ZEMOS98 to try to develop a community of learning around audiovisual and new media in Seville. After a public call, twelve young men and women living in Seville, Granada and Córdoba were selected; they have been meeting every week to discuss and produce their projects.
During the training process many different experts have participated in the activities: El sueño de Tesla (Málaga), Oficina de Derechos Sociales de Sevilla (Social Rights Office in Seville), Guillermo Zapata (Madrid), Marta Malo (Madrid), José Luis Tirado (Sevilla), Pandora Mirabilia (Madrid), Olivier Schulbaum and Enric Senabre of crowdfunding platform Goteo, and different members of ZEMOS98.
The participants have been working around topics like sound, activist investigation, soundscapes, different techniques of production, transmedia storytelling and new ways of funding.
The main themes and topics the videos have been around are commons, feminisms, education, public spaces, migrations and free culture.
